Mint Chocolate Chip Snowflakes

It's too cold for ice cream! Correction: it's never really too cold for ice cream and currently it is 50 degrees in Chicago. But! Usually in December, it's a bit chilly for a chilled dessert. The solution? Mint Chocolate Chip snowflake cookies!

1 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs & 1 egg yolk
1.5 tsp peppermint extract
10 drops of green food coloring
3 and 1/4 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
chocolate chips

Directions: Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, extract and coloring. Combine dry ingredients. Add and mix on medium until combined. Add chocolate chips. Chill dough for 30 minutes. Using ice cream scoop place balls on sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and while hot cut with cookie cutter. Save scraps! Adapted from the food charlatan.

To pay it forward, package your cookie scraps {that are delicious on top of ice cream!} and give to a friend with the cookie cutter and recipe tied to them!

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!
