Thanksgiving Recipe Roundup!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. This was not my first turkey, but it was our first turkey in our first home and it was delicious! These recipes are ones for the entire holiday season - tested, tried, and ready for you to make in your home this winter! Enjoy!

A few things to start; my favorite cheese cambazola and a few new ones like the tipsy goat.

A twist on the traditional stuffing, this pretzel roll and sausage one was delicious.

Sour cream mashed potatoes made...in the crock pot!

And the delicious giant turkey was brined overnight and baked to golden perfection! Of course, I didn't snap a pic of the big bird - I was busy eating, drinking, and enjoying, but here is a shot of that pretty breast and dark meat!

That berry apple pie became a berry messy ice cream cobbler topper!

And to end the evening with a bit of Baileys and banana blondies with maple frosting!

RECIPES

Golden Biscuits with Cranberry Horseradish Spread

    2 16oz cans whole cranberry sauce
   1/2 16oz can jellied cranberry sauce
   1 5oz jar cream style horseradish
   1 2oz can Colman’s Mustard
   1 tbs freshly ground pepper

Directions: Combine all ingredients in food processor.

Pretzel Bread and Sausage Stuffing

10 cups pretzel bread, cubed
1/2 stick butter
1 large yellow onion, chopped
1 golden delicious apple, unpeeled, chopped
1 tsp salt and 1 tsp pepper
4 spinach chicken sausages, chopped
2 cups chicken broth
2 eggs

Directions: Preheat your oven to 300°F. Place the pretzel bread cubes in a single layer on a large rimmed baking sheet and bake for about 10 minutes, until starting to get a little crusty and dried out. Transfer the bread cubes to a very large bowl. Increase oven temp to 350°F. Butter a 9 x 13” baking pan and set aside. In a large sauté pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the apple, onions, salt, and pepper and cook for about 10 minutes. Pour over the bread cubes in the large bowl. Using the same pan brown your sausage then add to the bowl. Whisk together the 2 cups chicken broth with the two eggs. Pour over the bread mixture and mix well to combine. Pour the entire bowl into the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes. Sour Cream and Chive Crock Pot Potatoes

5 lbs potatoes
1.5 sticks butter, cubed
1 cup water
1 cup sour cream
1 cup warm 1/2 and 1/2
salt, peper, chive

Directions: I followed this recipe, but replaced milk with 1/2 and 1/2 - because why not, right?!

Turkey

1/2 gallon water
1/2 gallon vegetable broth
1 cup Florence blend sea salt from Cucina Caterina
rosemary, bay leaves and thyme
1 gallon ice water

Directions: Combine 1/2 gallon water, 1/2 gallon broth, salt and aromatics and bring to boil to dissolve. Pour over turkey in a big Ziploc bag. Add ice water. Brine overnight. Heat oven to 450. Place bird in roasting pan, breast side up and put in the oven. Reduce heat to 350. Bake 13 minutes per pound, basting every 45 minutes. Keep that heat in otherwise, although it is tempting to peek ;)

Blueberry Apple Pie

We made this delicious pie the other week, remember? Well, it turned out to be more of an ice cream topping!

Banana Blondies and Maple Frosting

1 stick of butter, melted
1 cup light brown sugar
1 egg
1.5 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp salt
1.5 cups flour
2 bananas, mashed

Directions: Combine butter and sugar and beat on high. Add egg, vanilla, salt and bananas. Add flour. Pour into square 8x8 brownie pan (spray with pam) and bake for about 30 minutes at 350 degrees.

For the maple frosting cream together 1/2 stick of butter, 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 2 tbs milk, 1 cup powdered sugar and 1 tbs maple syrup
