Hi, I'm Adia, but people call me Addie. I was born and raised in Minnesota, home of the very tasty Jucy Lucy and a whole lot of corn and cattle. I didn’t grow up with a family recipe box, but was determined to create my own, so over the years I collected and recreated recipes and meals that excited my palate and warmed the soul. It wasn’t until I attended culinary school at Auguste Escoffier in Colorado and Avignon, France – that I learned more about the discipline and craft involved with cooking. There, I earned a masters in culinary arts and had the amazing opportunity to work with Christian Etienne, at a three Michelin stared restaurant. Through these experiences, particularly working with Chef Etienne, I not only embraced the French cuisine and culture, but realized that cooking truly is an experimental art form!

I returned to the United States and began working for Daniel Boulud and later crossed the country to work for the Thomas Keller Restaurant Group {TKRG} in California. After supporting the opening of Bouchon Beverly Hills and Bar Bouchon I moved back to New York City to work in management. I later left TKRG and began working for Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia to get a more diverse experience and work for a larger branded media & merchandising company that still focused their editorial content and experiences around food. I continue to write for Martha Stewart as part of her Contributor Network.

I worked alongside Martha’s talented team to create meaningful experiences for those who engaged with her near or far. Wearing multiple hats, my days were never the same. From making eggnog at Martha’s home for the holidays, to talking with editors about creative content for Martha Stewart Living, to ordering flowers and organizing events; I sought to combine my passion for food with my strong interest in the experience and education that surrounded it. While living in Manhattan, I completed my bachelor’s degree at New York University in organizational behavior and communication.

I settled back in to my Midwestern roots spent the past two years working at gravitytank, an innovation consultancy in downtown Chicago. As a Culinary Designer I ideated and prototyped new food and beverage products for a range of companies, large and small. I currently work as the Executive Producer of Prime Publishing, a media company here in Illinois. I oversee recipe creation, photography and video for all web platforms (culinary and craft) as well as the production of cookbooks.

When I am not working, I can often be found doing live cooking demonstrations at Bloomingdales, teaching first graders about healthy food choices with Rachel Ray's Purple Asparagus Group, and writing recipes for different restaurants and organizations. I serve on the board of Blue Sky Bakery, a non-profit bakery and catering company that provides education and employment to at-risk youth in the Chicagoland area. I dedicate any time I can to working with children, for 1, because they are awesomely creative in the kitchen, and 2- they are incredibly optimistic and interested in the future of food! 

Oh, and there was this one time that I was on The Food Network! In October I WON the Halloween Special of Alton Brown's Cutthroat Kitchen. Check out the Buzz page and watch the episode, it was wacky! My fiancé, Alex, and I live in Lake Forest with our happy puppy Paisley. We love hanging out in the backyard, cocktail walks around the neighborhood, and spending time with friends and family. Stop by often to see what's cooking in my Confetti Kitchen!
